Research

Research

Out of Play works with exclusive higher educational partners to deliver applied post-graduate level research with the aim of furthering best working practice and driving theory forward. Current research topics include:
- The relationship between players’ role understanding, efficacy and performance with the subsequent effects of an intervention program.
- Effectiveness of portable music players for player and team review structures in elite rugby.
- Coach behaviour analysis and the effects of a season-long intervention program.
- The variations in wheelchair design for wheelchair rugby with the subsequent effects on performance.

Future research will be directed by teams, individuals and our educational partners.

Ph.D. Placements

Through our elite working partnerships we enable Ph.D. placement positions that will be available through our main educational partner, Loughborough University. The candidates would be based full-time at elite level clubs, where they would split their time between specific club performance analysis work and academic projects. Advertisements for opportunities are posted on the web-site and through national advertising.
